If you'd like to make any improvements, alterations or additions to your home (inside or outside), you must get our written permission before starting work. Please use the form below.
- We won't refuse permission without a good reason, but we may give permission with conditions attached about the standard of the work.
- You may need local authority planning or building regulation consent. It’s your responsibility to do this.
- We may visit your home to check the work you're planning or doing.
Possible restrictions to improvements
Your home may have restrictive covenants about improvements (for example, whether you can add a conservatory or shed).
The local council may charge a fee to process an application for improvements.
Please always contact us before making any alterations to your home.
Decorating inside your home
You can decorate the inside of your home however you want without our consent - in line with your tenancy agreement or lease.
If you move out
If you’ve made any alterations or improvements, please check with us to see if you can leave them in place or need to return your home to its original condition before you leave.
- Any missing fixtures will need to be replaced.
- Any work needed to get your home back to its original state must be carried out by a professional tradesperson (for example, a Gas Safe registered engineer for gas appliances/installations).
If you're behind on your rent payments
If you owe us rent or service charges, you'll need to pay the arrears before we'll consider your request for improvements or alterations.
